Bio
Nicolas Panayotis carried out his Ph.D. at Aix-Marseille University under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Christophe Roux (Marseille Medical Genetics Laboratory, Inserm), focusing on the MeCP2-deficient mouse model of Rett Syndrome. His work unveiled disruptions in bioaminergic and BDNFergic systems in the MeCP2 knockout mice and led preclinical developments. He then joined the laboratory of Prof. Mike Fainzilber at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. There, he uncovered specific roles for nuclear transport factors importins in CNS and PNS functions and identified new molecular targets and pathways for the study and amelioration of MeCP2-related neurodevelopmental disorders.
